Becoming ‘That Girl’

Let’s be honest, the whole “That Girl” aesthetic we see online looks amazing. Waking up at 5 AM, perfectly made matcha lattes, sleek hair buns, neutral loungewear, clean white sheets, and journaling under a morning sunbeam. It’s beautiful, inspiring… and also kind of exhausting if you’re trying to live it just for show.
But here’s the thing: you can be ‘That Girl’, but your way. A softer, more intentional version. One that’s rooted in self-respect, peace, and alignment, not pressure and perfection.
This isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about becoming ‘That Girl’ in a way that actually feels good to you, gentle, grounded, and true to yourself. It’s about becoming the version of yourself you feel proud of, inside and out.
Start with Your Mindset: The Inner Work of Becoming That Girl
Becoming ‘That Girl’ starts with your inner world. Your thoughts, beliefs, and how you speak to yourself set the tone for everything else. Before you even get to the habits and routines, you have to check in with your mindset. The journey begins with recognizing what narratives you’ve been telling yourself, and gently shifting them into more supportive ones. It’s not about thinking positive 24/7, it’s about being honest and kind with yourself in the process. Positive thoughts will follow.
Ask yourself: Am I doing this to feel good? Or because everyone else is doing it? When your mindset shifts from performing to self-honor, that’s when you start to see a shift.
Practices to support your mindset:
- Journaling your intentions each morning, even just one sentence can set the tone
- Listening to a self-growth podcast or audiobook while getting ready or on your walk
- Speaking affirmations that remind you of your worth, strength, and the woman you’re becoming

Create Supportive Routines That Align with That Girl Energy
There’s no magic formula that fits everyone’s schedule. The key is to build routines that energize you rather than drain you. Your routine should give you space to check in with yourself, move your body, and align your energy before the noise of the day begins. This could be five minutes or an hour, what matters most is how you feel when you’re done. Choose rituals that bring you into alignment with your higher self.
Ideas
- Wake up with purpose. Try waking up an hour earlier to create time just for you
- Move your body, go for a walk, do yoga or stretch to activate your energy
- Practice grounding, red light therapy, or simply soak up some morning sunlight
- Speak kindly to yourself and set a positive tone for your day
Nourish Your Body: That Girl Wellness from Within
Your lifestyle is a reflection of how well you take care of your body. Instead of focusing on restrictions, shift your attention to nourishing foods, hydration, and supplements that support your long-term health and energy. Think of your body as something you get to support, not something you have to punish. The more you tune in, the more you’ll notice what makes you feel truly energized, calm, and vibrant.
My Personal Go-Tos
- A protein-packed breakfast (eggs, avocado, fruit)
- Daily supplements like Vitamin D and Amino Acids that I know my body needs
- Staying hydrated, water first thing in the morning and throughout the day
Tidy Space, Clear Mind: How That Girl Creates Calm
Your outer environment often mirrors your internal state. A clean, intentional space can help you feel more calm, clear, and grounded throughout the day. It doesn’t need to be magazine-worthy, it just needs to feel aligned with who you are and how you want to feel. Even the smallest changes, like making your bed or lighting a candle, can shift your energy. The goal is to create a space that feels like a soft landing.
Create Your Space
- A diffuser with lavender or eucalyptus essential oils instantly sets a relaxing mood
- Cozy blankets, warm lighting, and neutral tones make my space feel like a sanctuary
- Keeping my nightstand clear with space for a book or journal makes winding down easy
- Plants not only bring life to a room, but they help purify the air and uplift your mood
- Candles for those cozy, calm vibes
Conscious Beauty: The That Girl Glow-Up
True beauty radiates from within, but that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy glowing skin and a bit of glam. The difference? Choosing products that love you back. Clean, non-toxic skincare and makeup that don’t cause irritation or contribute to long-term health issues. You deserve to use products that support your glow and respect your body’s natural balance. When you switch to beauty that’s aligned with your values, it feels so much better.
I’ve struggled with breakouts and sensitivity, so I’ve learned to really look at ingredients. Look for non-toxic, non-pore-clogging skincare and makeup that works with your body, not against it.
It’s hard enough to get away from chemicals and toxic ingredients in food (that’ll be another post) so lets be intentional with our products the best we can and be our healthiest version of “that girl” we can be.
Things I Love
- Clean, non-toxic beauty and skincare (check out some of my Amazon favs here)
- Using an ice roller in the morning to de-puff and wake up my skin
- Slowing down at night with calming skincare and body butter
Protect Your Peace: Boundaries & Becoming That Girl
This one is big. You can’t step into your best self if you’re constantly pouring into people, places, or habits that deplete you. Being ‘That Girl’ also means knowing when to walk away, set boundaries, and honor your own peace. It’s not about being cold, it’s about being clear. The softer your lifestyle becomes, the more sacred your energy feels, and that’s something worth protecting.
Boundaries are not about controlling others, they’re about honoring your energy, your well-being, and your peace of mind. They define what you will and won’t allow in your life. When something feels off, draining, or disrespectful, you’re allowed to step away.
Daily Reminders
- It’s okay to rest, rest is productive too
- Protect your energy like it’s sacred (because it is)
- You’re allowed to evolve, even if others don’t understand
- It’s okay to be disliked for choosing yourself
- It’s okay to say no, you don’t need to explain
- It’s okay to walk away from anything that doesn’t feel right
Becoming ‘That Girl’ doesn’t mean becoming someone new. It means coming home to yourself.
Do the things that make you feel connected, healthy, empowered, and at peace. That’s the real glow up.
And if you ever want to know the tools or products I genuinely love and use, I’ll be sharing more of them in future posts. For now, I hope this gave you a little inspiration to take gentle steps toward your best self.
